Our interview was cancelled due to a higher rated story. Here is the email that was sent 3 hours before we were to meet with the car being sent for us.

Good Morning Jerry,
I'm so sorry, but I'm going to have to cancel our interview today. There's a lot of breaking news which we have to cover instead.
I'm so sorry, but I hope we can reschedule for another time.al
Best,
Jacqueline
I would like to thank Geraldo at Large people for wasting my time and money to do them a favor. And on a second note, it is not professional to send an email 3 hours before you are suppose to be picked up to cancell. A phone call should nave been made as to make sure we knew that the show was cancelled and were not waiting like idiots for the car to arrive. Then I had to make calls to find out what was going on, to hear they sent an email. Sorry, but I don't check my emails every hour all day long.

You should tell him " You don't have to cancel, you just decided to for a higher rated story, very unprofessional"

That's just not cool. The media doesn't want to broadcast anything positive about snakes, so I'd bet that's why they cancelled on you like that.

Finally, the real reason for the cancellation. LOL
"Cancelled for a higher-rated story" = "we figured out the public doesn't care about reptiles". Probably a good thing to let the whole mess be pushed from the spotlight at this point.
Oh don't be upset, Whoraldo stinks anyway and I never watched his show back when I had CATV.

I'm not upset. I turned them down the first time and then they talked me into it. I aggravated because of the waste of my time and money.

Yup....!
He would have likely given you a visual target to stare at the entire time so he could cut up the entire interview to make your words into whatever sensational crap he wanted. (Like CNN just did to us). We are better off without him and his tricks.

Geraldo is an asshat anyway and would have edited it to be something crappy anyway.

sorry to be blunt, but you cant really complain about professionalism if this is the way you deal with it. interviews get cancelled, thats the way the media works, things happen that are out of the producers control, they should have called you and spoken with you directly for sure, but you arnt doing yourself any favors by publicly having a hissy fit about it.
I would retract this thread immediately, contact the producer, and rearrange the interview if you are still interested, and if necessary bill them for the time you have lost as a result of their failure to contact you by phone.

Bill them for time? That's a good one. I doubt it would be worth the hassle. Letting others know who we would be dealing with and what to expect if contacted by fox for information is worth the hassle.

yeah, why not? If I have my time wasted by a production company, they get charged for it.
but i dont think its worth ranting, if it means that you are never contacted for an interview again.
I do agree that the producer should have made a phone call to cancel, however TV moves quickly, it could be that the entire show has been rearranged and the producer has been trying to get everything sorted out for 24hours straight with no sleep - it happens, I work for a film and TV production company and know how quickly things can change and become disorganized, people make mistakes, and its always worth cooling off a bit and having a proper conversation with the producer before publicly posting a rant like this.
Besides, Fox, why would anyone want to waste their time talking to that media company? *bites tounge* dont get started...

I am not having a hissy fit. First off I was doing this as a favor and was not getting paid. Secondly when you give someone your word and make plans you stick to them even if something better comes along. I have booked shows for myself and then had better offers come along, but being a man of my word I did not cancel to take the better offer. Big stars think they are better than everyone else and can treat you like you are a nothing. No one is better than anyone else. As far as wanting to be rescheduled, it not going to happen on my part, they made the offer and I refussed. I don't care what is normal in the TV industry as far as looking out only for number one. I would rather have a good reputation as being a man of my word. And the thread will stay, to let other know what to expect if they are asked to do something similar.

I agree with this. They made a deal, and backed out of it for a "better" opportunity. Normal or not, this is not professional nor is it good manners.

this happens every day, news happens, every day, you just have to get over it, and accept the fact that on some days, other stories, are more important than your own, theres no point in taking it personally, its the nature of news...

You really don't get it. I'm not taking it personally. This story was not about me, it was about 2 little boys who died in Canada. As far as what is normal and excepted in the TV industry, does not make it right. Also, this was a talk type show, not the nightly news. They could have covered what ever they thought was a higher rated story the next night.

it doesnt work like that tho, as frustrating as it may be, chat shows are subject to last minute changes just as much as the news....and who knows what the story is, maybe the President found a rattlesnake in the air force one bathroom?
I do get how frustrating it is, but its just the nature of the media!
emailing you instead of calling you was pretty crap of them tho

Some people care more about self respect than the respect of media agencies. This is not our careers so being insulted and mistreated will end the relationship. No need to hold back if you don't wish to do business with them ....ever. This rant is totally justified. You don't agree because you seem to think Jerry wants to be interviewed. I also would rather have my dignity than an interview. No need to call him out like that when it is you who does not have the correct perspective.

I'm with Jerry. A few hours notice through an email is absolutely ridiculous. Doesn't matter what the other news story was, its not acceptable. Sending an email is a cowardly way to say 'I don't have the balls to hear your reaction to the cancellation, or respect you enough to care and probably won't look at the email if you respond anyways'

I don't care for Wheres-Rolldo anyway. He always wants to try to be so SENSATIONAL that he makes me want to puke.I wouldn't give him a quarter much less an interview.
If I fault Jerry for anything, it would be for ever considering doing an interview with that big headed blowhard. Not to mention that he is a racist.
Better off this way.

Woah there big fella-
This is where I have to get off.I like Fox.The fact that they let idiots like Geraldo chime in with their differing views only shows that they are truly unbiased. Don't blame the cart for a few bad apples. I REALLY LIKE most people on there.
They may be politically biased but they do a pretty good job exposing the problems the common man faces from the government in this country.

Fox is a complete joke of a news station, filled with idiots. You like Bill O'Reilly? LOL
That news station lowers the IQ of the U.S by 40 points on its own. None of the news stations are accurate and I try not to watch them much, but Fox takes the cake honestly.

Yes I like Bill and several other people on there. Funny how he gets such different views on the same subject. Kinda like the viewers have blinders on. But poor ol Bill only has the highest ratings of any news program and several best selling books to boot.
You are welcome to your opinion and I will not make any snide remarks concerning your intelligence, but there are millions of people who don't agree with you.
