The Nest, Early

Very cool and i love how red mom is. Them babies have some great genetics. I bet they all turn out to be lookers like mom.

Cool how the mom was checking on her babies.. Do they all do this, or is it a rare thing? what happens if, say, a baby comes out dead, or with a birth defect? Why is mom checking?

THank you all. Almandine is interesting color, kind of a brickish red-orange.

Hannibalcanibal, mother Brazilians typically nose through the baby pile. They will often eat any slugs, and sometimes stillborns. I have heard reports of them nudging babies to get them moving. That said..it's a pretty limited set of maternal instincts, and once the kids leave the nest site, she's more or less done.
