Chinese market stuff?

My dad and I visited a Chinese market the other day, which was quite the interesting field trip, and I saw a bunch of whole smelt and shrimp and live crawfish and stuff. My question is, would a live crawdad or thawed shrimp/smelt be okay for my Budgett's frog? I figure a crawdad or shrimp would probably be a pretty nutritious whole prey item, but I guess I'm concerned about how my frog's system would deal with the hard shell and stuff. I feel like it would be a good idea to remove the claws and stuff from a crawfish as well. And I'm wondering about the salt content of the shrimp or smelt. Basically I'm thinking that it could either be very good or very bad for my frog. Any thoughts?

Peel the shrimp and remove the head, should be okay if cooked. Just boil it plain a few minutes unseasoned. When it turns pink, it's done. Better to buy fresh rather than something that's been frozen for forever.

If you're going to do that, don't use crawfish- its a lot of exoskeleton for a minimal amount of tail meat, and if you're not familiar with busting open crawfish it can be a chore.

Why would you just not feed whole prey items? It's virtually every single reptiles diet. Whole prey.

I have no idea to be honest. I know ghost shrimp are okay to feed with certain frogs (I only really dealt with African Clawed before), but for some reason with salt water, it's peeled, beheaded, and cooked. I think beheaded and peeled because shrimp have hard exo skeletons and sharp, pointy rostrum in some species. When I took care of frogs, that's how I was instructed to care for them when feeding shrimp. I think it's just concerns with digestion; whether it's founded or not, I don't know. If it helps, it was Pacman frogs.

Pretty sure crickets or flies are whole, prey items.

I used to feed my bullfrog live whole asian market crayfish. She never seemed to have a problem with digesting the shell.

You can feed whole crawfish to your budget frog. Not so sure on shrimp.

it also would great depend on what type of frog it was and how big it was. I mean pacman frogs can eat pinkies and mice but I would imagine it would need to be a certain age.
