Hello, I have a Ball python and Leopard Gecko, I had Cheddar "Ball Python" for 3 1/2 years when she was a baby and Barney "Leopard Gecko" for 2 years, she's adopted so she has years under her belt already. I was living in Iowa and the temp. over there was nice and cool so I had to use heat lamps, had a 12 hour on and off switch for them so the heat lamps turned on at 8 in the morning and turned off at 8 in the afternoon. Though I had that I would always forget to spray Cheddars tank so the humidity could go up, her eyes started to dry up and you could see cracks, this would make me sad cause she is my responsibility and I felt like I wasn't doing enough, even though it looked like she didn't care. But this isn't the problem, or the question I should say, the real thing is that I moved back to Texas (Born and raised) and as you all should know that the lower states get rather hot. I set up their tanks up and rearranged them and I guess they like it cause they explore their tanks anytime they get. Just like the title says "Lamps or No?" my room gets around 90 degrees during the day and a cool 70 at night "With help of the A/C" and I've looked around and that is the temp. everyone says they should live in. But the problem is that because of THAT their tanks don't have a cool side even though everyone says they should have a cool side. Through out the whole tank is between 80 and 90 degrees during the day. If I want a cool side I would need to turn the A/C and turn the heat lamps on, but that would require the A/C to be turned on ALL THE TIME, and I ain't rich, especially if I don't want to sweat buckets at night. Is it ok if I continue to not use the lamps, I've also seen that there are no new cracks on Cheddars eyes (days after her shed). Barney frankly doesn't give a crap as long as she is in her little skull hiding place. This also involves her, I don't want to be doing something wrong, has anyone had this sort of problem, if I have time I'll add pictures of them. Should I use the lamps or not?
