Hi all my wife took this pic while I was out of town ... She is very scared of snakes and didn't want to get close to the snake(that's why it's a bad pic ... Sorry)

it looks like it could be a corn snake to me, but more info about where you live would be helpful.
Cornsnakes are not venomous or dangerous to humans.

Thx for the reply..... I live In Tehachapi California ... About an hour east of bakersfield ... At about an altitude of 4000 feet

Since you're in Cali, I'd take a wild guess it's a Gopher Snake.

By the picture, it's pretty hard to tell but i'd say it's a Gopher by the girth, patterns, and how the head of the snake is a darker than the body.

Also Gofers are wild all over California, I find them all the time out here in the Bay Area.

I'm not too good with snakes, so don't take my advice too much lol. Hopefully another member can correct me / agree with me :cool:

red racer!!!! or coach whip what ever you prefer to call it, they are not venomous.
