Here's a pic of Volcano, my new jcp!! As you can see, the marking on his head looks like a black butterfly on a yellow background. To find him a name, I researched butterfly latin names on the internet and found vanessa indica volcanus, which is an exotic butterfly from India. From the latin name volcanus I came up with Volcano, the name of my jcp!!
Sorry for the long speech, I'm just so excited about my new baby!!!

This is a pic of his enclosure. It's a 33 gallon flipped vertically with the screen in the front.

Wow great set up and beautiful JCP
Beauty snake! I love the way you picked out the name. Sounds like something I would do ;)
Great set up too. What do you have keeping it upright like that? I hope you don't have a cat, mine would have that on its side in about 10 min. Then I would go and buy a burm for the cat....jk...lol
Enough from me, looks great!!!!

yellow looks good to me!
nice JCP
cool how you picked the name.. i had a savannah monitor that needed a name. so i looked up the native language of where monitors are found... which is swahili. I named him Mdambi which is swahili for large lizard.

Thanks Dino !
To keep the viv upright, i set it up on an old speaker box. It's placed right in the corner of the room, so the back is supported by the wall so it won't tip over.
Yes, I do have a cat ( a weird one too! loll! she has a tiny tail like the one of a bobcat and both her eyes are two different colors ...) but she doesn't seem to bother or care very much about the cages and/or snakes. But even if she did jump on it, I made sure eveything was safe enough so it won't tip over.

Nice JCP, but the setup is not the greatest. Although it is a very attractive naturalistic setup, it does not provide the proper environment for the reptile. 1) With a screen front how are you going to control humidity? You have way too much open space for the humidity to escape. I would get a piece of plexi glass almost as large as the screen and cover most of the front with that. 2) Floor surface space...although young carpets tend to be highly arboreal, when they grow they tend to become more terrestrial. Your sq ft of floor space will become inadequate quickly. 3) Just a suggestion, but you can put the lamp directly on top of the tank it will radiate heat through the glass and provide a vertical heat gradient.
watch out, there's a chance the heater would break or crack the glass. it's happened to me before.

True...glass becomes very unstable when it undergoes rapid temperature changes. As long as you don't mist it or contact it with something that is cold, you should be ok. I have set up tanks the way you have, but never used them for more than a few weeks without flipping them around and using them the normal way. I don't really like tanks period. Plastic containers/cages or custom built are so much better.
Very nice snake and setup:)
Your Welcome Phantom.
I am afriad JKUROSKI is right though I don't think you will be able to keep it that way for long! My IJCP goes up high only when she is not in shed or hasn't eaten. Most of the time she is all over the place on the bottom. She likes the hides and the humid box.
My cat took 5 months to relize that my Mali Uro was there but once he did.....wow, non stop at it! Like I said before big burm for the cat.

I'm aware that my jcp will not stay arboreal his whole life, but so far I haven't seen him on the floor one single time. He seems to enjoy climbing all over the place, hiding between the leaves/branches. So as long as he seem to like the cage set up, I'll leave it the way it is!
As soon as I notice he'll spend more time on the floor, I'll just put the aquarium back the way it's supposed to be, that's all. As for the humidity, I'll try the plexiglass tip, seem like a good idea. But so far I've had much more success keeping humidity in a setup with the screen being in the front rather than on top ( the humdity just evaporates right through the top ; in this case, the top is glass, so humidy stays longer)
And about putting the lamp right on top of the glass, I'd rather not take the chance, I've already cracked a perfectly good aquarium because of that!! loll!!
Anyways, that's just my personnnal experience, but I really appreciate you guys taking the time to comment! Thanmks for all the kind words everyone!!
