Me and my brother where chopping up bamboo. In a 8 foot piece, we cut in the middle and there where cottonmouth eggs inside of the cane. I know for a fact they where cottonmouth, but how did they get inside of the cane?

Hi. They were NOT cottonmouths eggs. They don't lay eggs :p

How large were the eggs? My bet is a lizard, and not a snake of any kind.
And as others mentioned, pit vipers are live-bearers, so are any species of water snake, garter or ribbon snake.

I agree, Cottonmouth are live bearer, but Student you are not entirely correct. Not all pit vipers are live bearers, e.g. Lachesis sp. lay eggs, so do the European watersnakes Natrix sp.

Thanks for the correction. That said, I should say all NORTH AMERICAN pitvipers are, though.

Thanks guise. I was told they were Cottonmouth, but when looking at pics of eggs I found out they were Prairie King snakes eggs. However, how did they get in the middle of cane?
