Hello everybody,
I have been a long time lurker to the snake world, but finally I have gotten one. I recently got a Colombian red tail boa from a friend that was starting to have troubles giving proper care due to a new child. Her name is Cleo and she is approximately 1 year old (at last from what they were told, they weren't her first owner) and she is about 4 feet long.

I just wanted to know if there were any tips or bits of info that y'all thought I should know about these particular snakes. And I also wondered what y'all thought she should be eating as far as size. My friend had been feeding her small feeder rats from a local shop but I wonder if that is to small as the lump goes away within a couple of days.

Once again thanks for any input y'all send my way. I appreciate it.

Ok, well in the mean time I well ask questions.

So do y'all really think she could be switched to medium sized rats? What is an accurate way to judge what she can eat?

A picture of her next to like a soda can for size reference would real help us help you on the best sizes to feed.

meds for a yrling is really big to me!! 4 ft for a yrling is pretty big to me also. If you know for sure her age I would definitely slow her feeding down

Thanks for all the replies guys! Like I said the guy I got her from believed that she us about a year old. And the 4 foot measurement is just an estimate as i don't actually have anything to measure that kind of length.

Looks big enough for a medium. My ball python is thinner than your snake and is on small rats.

That's the size of my female Argentine Boa and she eat large no problem. Of course mine is 2 years old and on the small side. So i would try mediums.
