A local guy was getting married and needed to get rid of these two BRBs, so we went to look at them earlier today and decided to take them. They weren't in the best setups but look in very good condition except that the female has at least one set of retained eye caps. Will have to see what we can do about them.

The guy had let us know that the female, who has been named Kaylee, was a little bit feisty and had struck at him once and that he did use gloves with her.
We got her out to get squared away in her new temp home, took some pictures, and then my husband took her and started to put her away when she decided to rather spectacularly induct him into the Bite Club, she did not want to let go either! Got some crappy pictures of the bite happening. So glad she didn't bite me!
Didn't get any pictures of the male, Simon yet.

Wow, she really takes my breath away! Beautiful girl! Her orange is so bright. It's got to be a real treat watching these guys grow up. So happy I get to watch Nataku's baby Argus grow up.

Congrats! Great to see they have a better home now. Better show some post-shed photos!

Beautiful *shiny* snakes...and great names ;)

If you get another female snake you should name it Vera because...well you should know why.

Good looking and feisty girl you have there!!

Hah, if we'd known a bit more about her temperament before deciding on names, we'd probably have named her Vera and the male Jayne instead of Simon. But their names are too stuck in our heads to change now.
Hopefully we will be able to get some good pictures of Simon soon too, he's not quite as pretty as her but still a nice looking BRB.
And he's supposed to be mellow, at least!

Well, I take that back about Simon not being as pretty as Kaylee! Finally got a good look at him and he has the high white sides I like.

They threw in a 55 gallon old fish tank that had had a background made for it and the background had a hidey hole just big enough for him to wedge himself into and someone not be able to get him out. We don't have big enough cages presently for them right now, though we have everything else they need, and had thought we'd keep one in the 55 gallon tank and go buy a nice big tub for the other tomorrow when the stores are open but the more we looked at this tank, the more displeased we are with it. So I'll be getting them both proper sized tubs tomorrow.
Simon finally came out of his hiding place just a few minutes ago and we scooped him up and put him in a tote like Kaylee.
Was finally able to get a look at all of him and he looks good. Didn't get pictures though as its past our bedtime. Will get some tomorrow when we get them situated properly.

Grats on the new additions, did you guys get the eye caps off ?

Charis
07-22-13, 03:00 PM
Yeah, I'm not sure what more to do for the eye caps. I'd actually told my husband to hold her a bit longer while I ran to get some vegetable oil and a Q-tip to put some on them but when I got back, he was swearing and she was latched on to him.
So then we had the drama of getting her off and I didn't get any on them and have to admit that I'm not in too big a hurry to try now!

They were on the completely wrong type of substrate, so I'm hoping just changing it to something proper and keeping the humidity high and waiting to see if they come off with her next shed will be sufficient.
Anyone have any good, not too invasive, suggestions on getting them off?

put her in a damp pillow case and may be she will rub them off looking for a way out of the case

Non aggressive way no. :)

One of the best ways is to keep her very very humid for a few ours, maybe even hold a warm damp cloth over her head for a bit.

After that use one of the little rubble office thimbles and gently rub the little nubs over the eyes, starting at the top gently.

Pillow cases are always a great solution.

He looks good, and good luck with the caps!
