Hey guys got this baby burn born mid June. He was aggressive when I got him but has calmed down completely. Ate f/t once for me and now is deciding to turn down food. Hasn't been long and I'm not too worried but what should I do? I was thinking of live or chicken broth but not sure. Also his temps and humidity are on point , got a warm side and a cool side.

Is that his enclosure???

Nope I keep him in a 2 by 2. That's him while I was cleaning. I will take pics of his enclosure once I'm home. Even if that was his enclosure it could work. I just like to give the space but with proper foliage. He's about 18".

The things we need to know are temps, humidity etc etc

Temps usually stay between 85-90, rarely hitting 90. Humidity stays somewhere between 55-65%.

How are you heating the enclosure? Does he have hides on both sides?

Heat pad, got a hide on the warm side along with a lot of fake plants he also uses for hiding, on the cool side I got his water bowl, and more fake plants. He rarely uses his hide but would much rather prefer the foliage. I'll snap a pic tonight or tomorrow morning.

Maybe try a pre killed? How often do you handle your burm?

He needs a hide on the cool side too. He's probably stressed out from not being able to hide well on the cool side. My snakes all use their cool side hide much more than the warm side.

Tried everything the last couple days.. Prekilled live chicken broth tried an asf. Think I'm just gunna give him some time and try again

Wait a week between feeding attempts. This allows the snake to calm down, and increases the chances of a successful feeding the next time.

Also, how are you measuring the temps? Ambient temp in the enclosure should be around 80 with a hot spot on the warm end of about 90. Heat pad needs to be controlled by a thermostat!

Exactly what I was thinking. I like that idea.
And I use a digital thermometer/hygrometer and a thermostat as well. Believe me his environment is on point. Think he's still a little new even though he ate once.

Don't handle him until he has eaten a few times consecutively for you. That will also reduce stress.

WELL! Found out he's got mites. Saw a couple moving on his head. In the past I would use nix. I've heard of Pam(prevent a mite) and Pam cooking oil. Any info on these?

Sorry to hear! None of my snakes have ever had mites, yet, so I can't help you on that, unfortunately :/

Provent a mite works well just make sure its dry before you place snake back in enclosure

Some burms aren't good feeders I had an albino green male who was very fussy when it came to eating. We learned through time that we had to super heat the head of the f/t prey item to get him to eat. You could also try braining ( splitting the skull open ) to see if this helps. Good luck and keep us posted on how it's going
