After 8 months of not eating my royal took a small rat today. Last meal was November. Brutal!!! So for those who post asking what to do about a royal not eating fo 6 weeks and such....no worries :)

Not that uncommon.

I know of breeder males who breed for two seasons before eating again. That's not a common thing but a testament that a few weeks or months people complain about is silly.

Which is exactly why I posted this. He is healthy as can be even after months of not eating. So if your reading this and your royal hasn't eaten in 4 weeks or something please relax and wait. No need for a new thread asking why yours won't eat.

Good to hear. My retic just resumed feeding as well. Still don't quite know why she stopped, she's a female that isn't of breeding age. I'm just glad our pets are eating again. :)

My ball python has been feeding regularly for many years. He's around 19 now. But when he was around 2 years old he stopped feeding for around 7 months or so. Didn't lose any noticible weight, looked healthy. I was worried, but told it was normal behavior. Offered him food every two weeks or so... nothing... Then one day he started eating and since then no problem. Weird experience for me, but apparently normal for the snake.

Been there. My Rudy (Haitian Boa) went a full year without feeding around the age of 2 or 3. And amazingly never any signs of illness. Only lost a negligible amount of weight, and shed about 4 times. Needless to say I was stressing for about 8 of the 12 months. He's 31.5-32 yrs old now, so it worked out. Still goes off 2-3 months most years. But that falls in the realm of normal.
