My old corn got loose for 6 months once. I was talking on the phone with a friend and saw her climbing into her tank...

She's been missing for 9 months now... as you can tell I was an extreme novice (still am) at the time and she paid for it. I didn't have the proper locks.

Lessee, 3.5 escapes:
#1 - Bumblebee ball python, I left the top of her tank unlatched by accident, found in my daughter's bed about an hour later.
#2 - CA King, either his door was unlatched or he popped it on his exo-terra, we're not sure, both doors were wide open and there was substrate on the floor in front of them. Found under hamper the third time I looked; unlike the BP's the Kings obviously keep moving.
#3 - MBK, tank not clipped. Found her hanging from a light switch next to my daughter's bedroom door. I joked at the time that if she'd gone into hiding, all we had to do was attach a string to a rat fuzzy and start dragging it through the house, and she would chase us down...
#.5 - Same ball python who must have wanted to repeat her escapade, I found her half in and out of the tank even with the top locked down (it flexed) during my just-before-bed snake check at midnight. She got moved into a tub before I went to sleep.

My little corn escaped for 2 weeks. One night I walked into the kitchen and saw the little girl on the tiles and quickly scrammed into a hole in the cabinet. 2 weeks later my dad found her in the garage laying ontop of his clothes in the washing machine after the washing cycle. He didn't like it :bouncy:. He thought it was his white drawstring from his jacket until he saw it move. Its amazing that she somehow crawled down a flight of stairs, then found her way into the garage and in the washing machine after the cycle was completed. (we have a top loaeded surgilator) somehow we, dont know if she went in the washing machine before or after the cycle; but she was alive... Now shes been put in a locking cage and growing quickly.

One of the corns from my first and only clutch got out of his enclosure. Never found him and still don't know how he got out.

I don't exactly have a corn. It's a wild born Texas rat snake which is basically the same. She has escaped so many times I have lost count. Never found her in the same place when I found her back. Always in the last place you look? Not hardly. Last time was the first place I looked, 2 months later. I really don't remember how she got out (by now you're all thinking I hope this guy doesn't have any venomous snakes and thankfully I don't).
Anyway the first thing I did was empty out my closet and check all my shoes.I spent the next two months checking everywhere. So one day I decided to put the shoes back up (don't judge me I live alone plus I didn't want to search twice. ) So I pick up one shoe and the other is much heavier.
So now she has a shoe in her cage (that one) and it is one of her favorite hidie holes.
This isn't really as bad as it sounds, I've had this snake for well over 10 years so the escapes were fairly far apart. I'm just thankful I got her back.

My male corn got out for half a day. The cats were freaking out in the living room. I think they were afraid of him. Lol. They kinda led me right to him. They kept looking behind the tv. Then they'd run away. Up til I saw him, I didn't know he was out.

When I moved into my new flat, and my first snake into his new home XD he thought he'd escape and searched for good 4-5 hours and he was in my skirting board! XD coaked him out with a mouse and he was fine :) and think tight warm spaces XD, keeping in mind I have three cats! _._ so I had to make sure I found him and not them :)

have had hatchlings outta their tubs escape a year ago and all 3 of them were in the other side of my flat in the bath tub unharmed XD

Mine escaped and was in a baseboard heater for a month. The cat found her - we were lucky. My friend had one escape too and last I knew, never came back.
My son left our leopard gecko out by mistake and I think my ferret got her. We looked for what seemed like forever then my other son mentioned to me how he found her dead. He didn't want to hurt our feelings. It actually still hurts to this day.

Went to my first expo, I was pretty young, maybe 10 or 12. Bought a corn snake for like 15 dollars, brought it home. 10 Gallon setup with a lid and clamps. Woke up in the morning and it was gone, never found it though. That was the second and last reptile I actually 'lost'. The other was a leopard gecko but I fell asleep with it on my stomach :/

I did that with a baby speckled king I caught once. I only had it a few days at the time. It had pretty much quit biting but would still musk. After I rinsed it and my hand off it would squirm around for awhile then wrap around my fingers and go to sleep. I was laying on the bed watching TV and accidentally did the same. I woke up-snake gone-can't find it.
The next day I walk into the living room and I see the dog in the kitchen with her butt right in the doorway to the living room. Behind her is the little king.Behind it is the cat.

Cat reaches out and gently paws the snake. Snake bites the dog. Dog flinches but is too sleepy/lazy to turn around.

I don't know how long this had been going on, but I watched it repeated 4 or 5 times before I broke up the game.

It's a chain reaction!

I had a Gravid ball python get out once, laid her clutch under my sink, found them and her when I went to get ready for school in the morning (I was 14 at the time). When I reached for a towel I got a nice bite in return, that's when I noticed them and her in the corner. She got out a lot, use to use her body to leverage the top of the cage open, she broke a lot of locks I put on that cage.... haven't had any snakes get out since her, I guess when you have a Ball python that breaks cages, you learn how to not let them get out.
