More hides. More hides.
Cover some of the screen if you can. Otherwise great cage.

I would add a second hide and I would cover most of the screen top for humidity.

Plastic wrap, towel, cardboard. Anything will work.

I would move the wooden branch to the other side, and put a hide on that side. King snakes don't perch on trees to bask. It would be better to give him a hide to go into that is warm.

No problem.
Just wondering but do you have an under tank heater? You can keep the light to warm the ambient air temperature but I don't know if at that distance from the floor, it's enough to provide a mid to high 80's warmspot.
When using a taller enclosure for a terrestrial species of snake, I think it would be easier to maintain a thermal gradient with an under tank heater hooked up to a thermostat.

You should add a temp and humidity gauge to see what your inside temps are first. If it's between 40-60% you don't need a towel, your humidity is fine. To much humidity is bad for a king snake. I would just put another hide by the water and you should be alright.

Yeah I know I needed a thermometer in there and when I was buying all the stuff for the cage I bought it and I left it in the store like an idiot.

If you plan on using both the light and an uth I think the small one will be fine. You just want a small area of the cage to be the basking spot. The light should take care of the rest of the cage.

I personally use 2x4 light covers from lowes, you can even choose different designs, but I cut to fit into the screen. I'll get a picture taken to show ya

Like I had said they are just 2x4 light covers from lowes or Home Depot. They run about $7-10

How much heat do they let through?

I use a Med UTH and the Light on my 40 gallon to accomplish a 85 high and 75 lowside, with a constant 60% humidity.

I took all of yalls advice and I got the new things needed for her cage and rearranged a bit. She now has two different hides that are arranged properly and according to her new thermometer and humidity reader her cage is a a constant 86 degrees on the hot side of it and just about 50% humidity.

Is 86 the temp on the general hotside or is it the temperature of the basking/hottest spot?

And you can also put a moist hide in there for bumping up humidity for shed I sometimes use sphagnum moss if I notice the shed.
What is the low temp?
Most likely, you do not have to cover your enclosure top. Humidity in the 40%-60% is natural and perfectly suitable for kingsnakes. Most will do fine at ambient humidity levels, even if lowered slightly by a low wattage lamp.

Nice tank, from the advice everyone else has given I think you'll have a pretty happy snake.
