I've never actually caught one of these, he was hopping full speed somewhere. Couldn't resist bringing him in to show to my buddy for a few minutes and take a few pics, I was pretty excited.

The rainy/summer season here has brought TONS of those little buggers (I'm not frog savvy so it's prob a different species). I went for a walk with my dog and saw them everywhere. Last year we woke up one morning to about 100 in our pool as well (on our SCREENED lanai to make it even more bizzare), and more every day afterwards. Hopefully not again this year :P

I love tree frogs. I live on a lake so we get the grays and the peepers here. They are adorable.

I have two right now and they are fun little guys. Sometimes they like to sing to you.

I don't like to keep animals I catch more than 5-10 minutes. Little dude was freakin, so I let him go on the tree in my balcony and he went on his merry little way.

Looks like a Gray treefrog, albeit an abnormally greenish one.

Gray tree frogs turn a light gray and green color in the warm months in New England. They are darker gray in cool months. I have a tough time sometimes being able to tell the difference between the peeper and juvenile grays. We find both of them on the front of our house below the lights. We get millions of these gnat type bugs that swarm and then land on the house. The frogs have a field day/night eating there.

StudenttoReptile and Zoo Nanny, thanks for helping with the identification and explanation of color variation! I wondered what the little guy was, but I'm not much of a frog person, though it's one critter I'd like to learn more about.

My stepson gave me a frog-call and identification DVD & book, so I'm looking forward to being able to make a better-educated stab at identifying some of the frogs I hear at night--we have a creek running through our property, so we hear LOTS of frogs. Bullfrog is the only one I can easily ID both by voice and by body.

Anyway, this little tree frog is a cutie! Thanks for sharing him (or her), smy_749!

Yeah, we have the Copeland's grays down here in the south. I think the other subspecies is more prevalent in the northeast.

I caught one when I was a teenager and kept it overnight. It was grey when I caught it and (very) bright green the next morning. It was the first time I had caught one and was shocked by the colour change. (Eastern Gray Tree Frog)

Anyway, they are super hard to find even though they sing like crazy in the spring. I'm jealous of your lucky find, smy!

Thanks, Like I said, I've lived in the same town for 23 years now and this is the first time I've seen and caught one. I was pretty excited though from my limited understanding of amphibs I know its not good to handle them much so I only did a brief photoshoot and out the door he went.

Yeah it's best to wash your hands before each amphibian handling session, the oils, salts and chemicals on our hands can harm them. Most amphibians "breath" through their skin, and absorb things easily through it as well, hence why they are most vulnerable to pesticides and other pollutants.

Really cool colors! I love frogs and toads always have for some reason.
I moved from Jacksonville fl south to the Daytona area. We down here have a problem with cuban tree frogs. UF says to humanely euthanize them, I decided to just catch them and put them in a prison that resembles home, which is their lovely 55gallon tank, and 20gallon with a 10gallon ontop upside down(double decker)

When I moved into my house I could only find Cuban tre frogs and large toads..
After research and learning to euthanize them(or collect in my case) I have a growing population of all native frogs and toads!!! I didn't see any squirrel or green tree frogs and now I have tons of them. Every night by each light around the house I'll have 3-4. I have also come across many barking tree frogs(largest native frog) and as time went on I started finding smaller southern toads, and then spade foot toads of all sizes and then the uncommon narrow mouthed toads! That are now common around my house!!!

I didnt have any animals to care for so the idea of having a pet was a good time consumer which I need. I feed them crickets weeky, they are active eaters, lunging and grabbing with open mouths and speak arms they usually stuff the food in their mouths with their hands, like a Viking!!!
I mist their tanks quite often and I have only live plants growing throughout with tons of cover for hiding.

They do croak(sound, not death:))almost nightly! And often when I must their tank they'll croak to thank me.

Cubans can eat nonstop, expanding their bellies to disgusting levels.
They eat native frogs toads and lizards and obviously insects. And from what I have noticed they really don't have an off switch..
And for those that care, they do tend to feces on everything around the house and their feces can stain wherever it is. Paint, tables, screens you name it it can actually stain it, or just leve a thick residue.
