Just wanted to follow up my earlier post to report the EXCELLENT news that my new male Dumerils ate for the first time today. I've had him only 5 days.....he was shipped to me cross country from CA to NC......and decided I would offer him a small f/t rat this evening with the thought I would give it to one of by BPs if he refused it. It made me very happy when he immediately and aggressively struck at the rat when I dangled it in front of him from the end of long forceps. I'm taking this as a good sign that he will not be a fussy eater. Thanks to everyone who gave me advice on what size prey to feed him and how often.

Wonderful!!! I love to feed my dum, he just bites the rat and swallows a minute later.

Any feeding pics?

Congratulations, KWenger...but, respectfully, I would urge you to be more careful with your procedures. While your new Dum is all likelihood perfectly healthy, just think what could happen if he were not...and you offered food that had been exposed to him to a snake in your main collection. Sadly, this is how collections get wiped out. Keep quarantine as a hard line, and just toss anything refused food. Better to waste a $2 rat than replace a collection....

Glad to hear he's eating though. :-)
