Wtf, you have a diamond too? Beautiful diamond and a SD retic, what else do you have that I want?
:)
I've really downsized. I'm sticking to carpets and just getting into retics the way I want to.
I have my coastal female, a beautiful female JCP, and the male diamond. The retics are the female 50% Jamp, and the 50% SD male....those guys are both small...it'll be a while on them. Stay tuned...I have something else in the works that should be in my collection in about 10 days :)

Sorry MDT, but after you post the diamond, nobody wants to see any of your other snakes. Just more of the diamond. How did he look as a baby? (nice jungle, i'm just messing)
I just got the diamond a few months ago. Kurt Finnegan (Finnegan's Exotic Collectables) got him from Steve Kelly. He was letting some of his stock go..."Leo" (the Diamond) was one he was letting go. He really has/had some stunning Morelia specimens. It looks like he's doing some Ball python stuff now as well.

My understanding he was a 2010 hatch.
Here he is with a 33 inch snake hook for reference.

Very slender. I like to see a snake with a more "healthy" weight =]

Lol! I'm not sure I can afford a mate for now :)
He is a very healthy weight. This is a lean, muscular snake.

I meant that your snake is a healthy weight =]
The wording probably sounded a little funny, sorry.
no worries Amadeus....I thought you meant it looked healthy :)
Such an amazing snake, diamonds are pretty high up there on my wish list.

i'm NOT being cheeky mate...
the FIRST thing i learned on Diamond keeping was.....
a FAT Diamond is a DEAD Diamond
The Diamond Python is different from the rest of the Carpets, not being kept correctly caused a lot of deaths in the early years of Diamond keeping
keepers came to learn that...
over feeding led to fat over weight Diamonds dropping dead ( i only feed mine 6 months of the year )
re other Diamond husbandry problems...
Diamond Python Syndrome, usually shows signs/symptoms at around 3 to 8 years of age, where all their bones start to go brittle and break, leading to death or euthinisation, due to them not being able to eat (broken jaws).....the general thought on it is,that Diamonds require UVB lighting as lack of it may cause/contribute to DPS
re feeding...
imo Diamond Pythons should be kept LEAN and MUSCULAR
ALL the keepers i know and research ive done, suggests you should only feed your Diamonds 6 month of the year
re cooling cycles...
most keepers i know, also give them a yearly cooling cycle,a period with night time lows of 50F, reduced basking times, reduced UVB time, winter light cycles...keeping Diamonds too hot, also led to premature deaths in the early years of keeping
imo Diamonds are a different shape than the other Carpets, imo a very muscular snake
to the op
he's looking great mate
i love how bright crisp and clean his white is,imo he's quite long for his age
i look forward to updates,as he's going to be good looking adult
cheers shaun
Shaun...as always, I appreciate your advice and guidance. Many thanks Brother!

Diamonds are a in a league of their own, and you could honestly say they actually have some difficulty to keeping them aside from keeping humidity and temps right like most 'intermediate species'.
Now for my question, how do you treat husbandry with diamond crosses? 80% diamond for example? Is it the same, or less, or none ?

Like any other carpet mate... the percentage in all the people I know that have them have never been a factor in shifting their husbandry to mimic pure M. s. spilota.
