Hey all. I've 99% made up my mind that I am getting a bcc. My question however is not how to care for it, but where should I get it? I live in NYC and am not aware of any breeders over here. Does anyone have a company/place that they really liked dealing with/or would never deal with again? Also, I think I have decided on a Suriname locale baby. Am I right when I say this snake will get 7-9 feet in length and be quite girthy? Are there any facts I should know in general, or specific to this locale? (obviously there's a lot I should know lol but I mean more specific quirks to BCC, or even better, Suriname) If anyone owns BCC, specifically Suriname, show 'em off here :)

Gus at Rio Bravo turns out some stunning boas, so check with him for sure. As far as size goes, BCC and BCO will be the largest boas, with females often exceeding 10 feet, males usually 7-9 feet. Both subspecies will grow much slower than a BCI, but will end up much bigger in the end.

No problem. Also check out the kingsnake classifieds. I see nice BCC on there all the time. Check out BCO as well....not nearly as common and they can actually end up a bit heavier than a BCC.

Is BCO Boa Constricto Occidentalis? Is that a "jungle boa" by common name?

Yes, but it's the Argentine Boa.

No problem.
Wait till July 7th and make your way to white plains county center for the reptile expo. You will most likely see all the above and morphs of each. Bonus being you can first handle the snake and talk face to face with the breeders before laying down any cash. Plus it gives you just undera months to do your homework.
