Is this a Copperhead?

I live in the Western Piedmont area of North Carolina. My AC repair man opened the AC unit today and jumped back after seeing this. He snapped a photo of it on his phone. I called a guy I know to come out and he saw it as well, but once he tried to catch it, it slithered away. We thought it was a baby because it was only about a foot. Is this a Copperhead? We put some mothballs in the AC unit and around the house out there. I'm not sure what else to do.

Perfectly harmless (adult) Dekayi Brown snake. Storeria Dekayi. they eat snails.

I had been thinking that this snake did not have the hour glass shaped markings that a copperhead had, but I thought that it could have been a baby copperhead (I don't know if the baby ones have those markings or not).

My AC repair man was scared to go back to work, but hopefully this info will help him out. Thank you for the info.

That is definitely not a copperhead. The colors are wrong, as are the markings. Here are some pictures of my two copperheads for you to see the patterns/colors:

Those have some amazing colors, I'd love to catch one in the wild.

Mine are captive bred. They're generally readily available so there's little reason to take them out of the wild.

I din't to keep as a pet, I meant that i would love to go herping and catch one.

Either way a live in captivity is better and easier for the snake.
