View Full Version : need some advise
i am planning on getting a pair of atbs. i have a few different thoughts, and rubbermaids are always a possibility. however i recieved a tank that is 48"long 12" high and 16" wide. i was contemplating turning it on its end so it stands 4 feet high. than i would need to plexiglass the top ( or now front) drill holes all over for ventilation as well as cutting holes out for doors and using the plexiglass for that. i was wondering if you guys would think that this is too small or if there would be enough ventilation
thanks in advance for the time to read and respond

window screen, you can buy the supplies and make a door with the perfect fit, and solves vent problems. If your very carefull you can screw in small hinges to the plastic frame of the tank.
thanks for the advice on the screen but im still really worried about the size of the tank for a pair or better yet trio. it is only 16 by 12 around
any thoughts?
altough the height would be more than enough, that width and depth would be pretty small for one ATB.
...but for 2 or 3 boas, i would not recommend it. Its definitely a little tight in there for them.
just my opinion, i guess you could try it and see how it goes.
good luck!
I agree with Matt that its small for one adult even( after looking at the size again )
Could be alright for a neo or yearling.
IMO tanks are not suitable for any tree snakes, regardless of the dimensions. It is virtually impossible to mainatin proper airflow in them, since you can only have ventilation on the one side, this allows air in, but you cannot cross-ventialte, so the air can't circulate. Tree snakes are very sensitive to this, they need high humidity and good ventiltion to thrive in captivity. Think about it, there's nothing stagnant when your living in the trees ;)
