Carp are becoming a serious issue.

i would normally agree but in this lake they breed these along with crappie walleye and tiger musky for sport fishing and hold tournaments in the summer

Can you even call it fishing at that point? You'd have to try hard not to catch something, casting out without any bait and you'd hook something somewhere lol

You cant fish in the spillway its nursery waters the whole upper lake is off limits for fishing boating lol but in the main lake it mine as well be cheating instead of fishing you sometimes do catch fish with no bait

You can buy sterile grass carp, they will clean up a pond and get huge.

but what would do with the whole upper lake thats nursery water if you were not breeding them? i guess the queestion would be would it be cheaper just to buy new fish every year or breed your own every year? some die from poor fishing practices and others die naturally so at some point you will have to restock the lake.

We have a lake like this down by me in West Virginia, ludicrous number of carp especially by the docks where people will feed them. Works out good for me though because I bow-fish for carp and can bring home two 55 gallon trash cans full some nights.

I'am assuming you meant "do they feed them bread?" If so yes bread and some people will feed them dry dog food. I usually donate the ones I shoot to homeless shelters (they cook and provide them as food) or for compost. Now that my alligator is getting some size put on I can start feeding them to him.

That is the extent of my use for carp other than some are pretty to look at in an ornamental pond. Pond janitors. It's a trash fish. :) around here anyway.

As pretty you mean koi right?kois are beautiful theres a small pond in town with koi. Normal carp here are fun to catch they fight hard i love to use light tackle for them nice little piece of bread on a hook and you are having fun lol seems like even the small ones like to fight pretty hard unless your using something like 30lbs + line then the little ones are not much of a challenge lol

I actually think the grass carp can be pretty when they are not too fat, we have some in one of our ponds and in the evening they wallow in the shallows. Kinda looks like sea monsters, some of them are huge, rolling around.

lol if he goes to the lower lake where there is about a billion carp just spread out more the fish have a better chance because the water is always stained in the lake so that would make it more interesting lol

The fun would wear off after about the second shot. But the thought of being able to spear 12 in one shot sounds fun...
