so I went to my local petsmart and picked up some Aspen bedding for my corn (I was supposed to get fresh bedding from the previous owner..but he's in mourning and I wasn't going to wait)
Anywho I just put in some of the bedding, and I found it neat that my Blizzard Corn was exploring it like she got in a new habitat all over again.
I came back to check up on her (she was burrowing which I thought was kind of cute actually)
anyway! I noticed that she has pinkish marks on certain parts of her body...is this normal? or a concern?
or maybe sign of a soon to be shed? (pure white snake..though I'm sure most people here know the blizzard morph)

Sigh, I made an honest mistake..I felt the heating pad, it was a bit warmer..no thermo with it, so I unplugged it, I'm just going to use a low wattage heat bulb instead
My poor baby ...shame on me for not thinking better T_T
it doesn't look bad...def on the surface pink ish..but no blisters/scabs/serious burn conditionals
would a 50 watt do her just fine for her basking spot?

if you could post some pictures that would help...
i have heard of snakes develop a pinkish cast when they are going to shed, but specific spots or marks are generally a sign of a trauma, similar to a bruise or scrape.
Is it possible your corn could be rubbing against something sharp in the viv, or on one of her decorations?
I hav an albino kingsnake (also almost entirely white), and he got bit a few times by my female when i was transporting them in my backpack (she bit him through her pillowcase, AND his pillowcase... now i use tupperwares :P). These pink marks showed up a day or two later, became raised and inflamed looking after about a week, and after 3-4 weeks were completely gone, all on their own.
Hope things work out!

The shed comment could be a possibility, I picked her up just now, she didn't spaz out..calm, but she was def rubbing on me as if she was trying to get skin off of her..
kept rubbing her face on my arm ;o

I'm a new owner, so of course I sound incredibly ignorant, I do apologize.
her belly looks just fine, so the heat mat burn wouldn't make sense if she's light pinkish up top/on the sides in a couple areas
mat is still off though just to be on the safe side.

from what ive heard ,the pink cast is generally up to a week before shed; you should notice her color dull out and her eyes cloud up, then the eyes will clear and the skin will brighten again, and she should shed a few days after that.
Do you have a way to measure the temperatures over the heat mat (heat gun, probe?)
Again, pictures could help

ill have my roommate take a couple pics tomorrow, I would with my phone but the quality is so bad that you'd just see white, I did notice though this past weekish that her skin was seeming to dull somewhat recently.
to be honest it's a sigh of relief, I've gotten the same possibility that you just told me of, tomorrow ill also take her out and put my temp gague right on the heat mat and see what temps are like ..I live in Arizona and it's quite warm even at night, so I'm not worried about her overnight.
pics tomorrow though for sure ;o

Whatever heat source you use then you must use thermostat
