View Full Version : what is the rarest snake in the world

I think it is the rough scaled python. For what I know is that there is like only about 100 of these snakes in the world. Another thing that is amazing is that at my 5th grade trip to the bronx zoo I saw like 7 of them. No kidding.

i know in the us the kirtland snake lives in 5 states and is threatened in 2 and endangered in the other 3 and in pa has not been seen in over 30 years

RSP are definitely not the rarest with the way we breed them here....

rough scaled pythons breed like weeds mate,you can get them for 200 australian dollars over there

the Oenpelli Python is pretty rare

P.S.in the usa Terry Philip of the reptile garden produced a clutch of roughies a couple of years ago,also there are 2 or 3 pair of legal roughies in europe

Sahul Reef Snake and the Leaf-scaled Sea Snake have jumped to the top of the list since 2000. Neither of these snakes have been recorded in surveys since 2000 according to the IUCN Red List.
